Christian Counseling

As a Christian Counselor in Portland, OR I am aware of the way our world view, our beliefs and our values have a tremendous influence on how we function and the way we approach mental and emotional well-being. The spiritual component is an important part of who we are as humans.

As a maturing Christian, I have strong doctrinal beliefs. One of those strong beliefs is the respect of your beliefs and your choice to believe what you want. If you ask me, I am willing to share what I believe and why. However, in matters of specific doctrine I generally suggest you take those questions to your own spiritual advisor.

In counseling we look at how your beliefs are affecting your ability to function, your emotional, mental and spiritual well being. I seek to help you understand how spirituality changes us at the deepest core, affects who we are down to the inner part of our being. Out of that comes every expression of life to benefit ourselves and others.

While I am respectful and will counsel you operating within the parameters of your own beliefs and values, I am aware of how my own Christian world view influences my work as a therapist. I will seek to help you become more aware of how your beliefs affect your world view and therefore the way you are able to handle life’s struggles.

In Christian Counseling, if you ask me to, I am quite willing to incorporate Scripture into our sessions where it is therapeutically appropriate. As Christians we have connection to the powerful principles of growth and healing that are provided in the Bible. I help you recognize and apply those principles to your life situation.
